🔗 Python / SQL / Spark / Databricks / AWS / AI / Blockchain Elliptic is seeking a Data Science Lead to head data science within its Intelligence team. The role is a player-coach position focused on building the data foundation for compliance with autonomous agents while remaining hands-on with coding and model work. Lead and grow a small team of data scientists by setting objectives, owning performance and development, and building career paths. Own end-to-end hiring process with the aim of scaling the team. Define data collection requirements for future compliance and own model governance including inventory, validation, and monitoring. Frame research questions, run experiments, stay technically hands-on, and collaborate with Collection, Research, Product, and Engineering teams. 🔑 Requirements / Must-have: AI fluency with demonstrable application of AI tools in data science workflows for coding, exploration, and automation. Experience managing data scientists or machine learning engineers, including performance ownership and people development. Experience hiring into technical teams and defining the hiring bar. Deep current hands-on data science and machine learning capability in Python and SQL, plus experience with modern data stacks such as cloud data lakes, Spark or Databricks, and AWS. 🛠 Nice-to-have / Preferred: Blockchain or on-chain data experience including clustering, attribution, heuristics, or anomaly detection. Work with agentic systems, LLM agents, or autonomous transaction flows. PhD or equivalent research training, or published applied research.
